Through neighborhood-based leadership education and training, Center For Neighborhoods cultivates and supports effective neighborhood associations and resident leaders across Metro. We seek to build learning networks around common concerns and approaches, drawing together resident leaders from diverse neighborhoods, perspectives and experiences. The Neighborhood Institute is a free, 12-week neighborhood leadership training program held twice per year that equips neighborhood leaders to affect positive change in their communities. Neighborhood Institute has graduated resident leaders from all over Metro for over 30 years.
Graduate Seminars are designed to provide graduates of the Neighborhood Institute with a deeper understanding of neighborhood-based topics. Day sessions will be focused on providing more in-depth and intensive information in special areas of interest and stay connected to the wider network of institute alumni from many neighborhoods. The Neighborhood Summit is an annual conference open to all neighborhood and emerging leaders, neighborhood businesses, neighborhood associations, nonprofit community partners, and local government officials and staff. The day-long conference showcases community building success stories and celebrates neighborhood development across the Louisville community.
Community Workshops provide one-day or multi-day sessions on specific topics relevant to neighborhood resident or groups. Community Workshop sessions are open to all interested residents. Neighborhood or location-specific workshops may be developed as needed and/or requested by neighborhood leaders or other neighborhood partners.
