CHDO Train and Sustain 1 and 2
About
The Community Housing and Development
Organization Train and Sustain program is an educational
seminar for established and newly aspiring neighborhood
based organizations involved in the development of
affordable housing production. The classes are split
up into eight (8) sessions, dealing with important
issues that will assist in sustaining affordable housing
development in several Louisville Metro neighborhoods.
The classes are open to any certified or soon to become
certified organization, through the Louisville Metro
Department of Housing’s checklist
of requirements. (See checklist) The classes are an open
seminar style with outside experts in different fields
sitting down with organizational representatives and
providing insightful and applicable information.
The CHDO Train and Sustain program began in January
2005 with funding from the Louisville Metro Department
of Housing and Community Development External Agency
grant. Our inaugural class had twenty-four (24) attendees
representing eleven (11) organizations.
In March of 2006 the CHDO Train and Sustain II program
was launched as a partnership with the University of
Louisville and Metropolitan Housing Coalition’s
Non-Profit Housing Alliance. The CHDO TS II program is a studio style class
for established neighborhood based development organizations. Each organization
brought in their own project and presented them before their group of peers,
which in turn allowed for advice, technical assistance and learning opportunities
for the entire group. |
