Participant
Pledge
The Neighborhood Institute is generously funded by a
grant from the Metro United Way Vital Neighborhoods Initiative.
All participants are admitted free of charge, as the
Metro United Way funds cover approximately $1000 per
participant. Their support of the Neighborhood Institute
provides you with opportunities to become engaged in
continuous learning that will support improvement of
your neighborhood.
The Metro United Way believes that neighborhood leaders
are worth their investment. In exchange for your participation
in the Neighborhood Institute, it is expected that you
give back to the community. Your experience in the class
will provide you with the resources, connections, and
knowledge needed to be effective agents of positive change
and to initiate neighborhood improvement.
The following “Goals and Outcomes” page outlines
the goals of the Neighborhood Institute, followed by
examples of ideal outcomes and success stories. Please
note that throughout the semester and after graduation,
Center For Neighborhoods staff will be working with you
to track your progress and document the actions you are
taking in your neighborhood. We want to keep up with
all your wonderful projects! Please use the “outcomes” list
to inspire your own project ideas! Everyone in the
class will be asked to create or work on their own
project during the class.

I understand that the Metro United Way is financially
investing in my personal growth and development as a
neighborhood leader.
I pledge to:
- Uphold my personal goals for
growth and education as a neighborhood leader
- To
contribute to some aspect of positive neighborhood
improvement
- To put the skills, resources,
contacts, and information I receive in the Neighborhood
Institute to good use
- To share my knowledge and
help to empower others living in my neighborhood
that are working toward improvement
- To keep Center
For Neighborhoods up-to-date on what I’m doing
(projects, events, programs, association business,
organizing, work on issues, etc…)
